The Foundational Doctrine of EGC

As it is a true that doctrine are the basis of confusion in many denomination, EGC put emphasis only on what so called Doctrine of Christ. The Bible talks of various doctrines that make much church go astray if preached within the church. There is a doctrine of Devil (1Tim 4:1) of Men (Math 15:19), of Pharisee (Math 16:2), of Balaam (Rev 2:14), of Nicolaitness (Rev 2:15), of Jezebel (Rev 2:18-24) etc.

The Bible warns us not to follow them (Rom 16:17, Eph 4:14). The only doctrine that has to be followed is the doctrine of Christ, because it is the only doctrine from God (John 7:16-17), and there is a punishment if it is not followed (2 John 1:9-10). The Doctrine of Christ is the foundational teaching of the Empowering Gospel Church. These are (1 Cor 3:11 and Heb 6:1-2):

i. We teach the Repentance from Dead work (Heb 9:12-14, Luke 5:32, Luke 24:47)

• Steps in repentance:
  • Remorse (2 Cor 7:10)
  • Confession of Sin (1 John 1:9)
  • Willingness to give up Sin (Pro 28:23)
  • Repugnance and hatred for Sin (Ezek 20:43)
• Dead works are:
  • Our former(evil) way before we got Born-again (John3:8, Gal 5:19-21)
  • Sins (Rom 6:23)
  • Sins Consciousness and Motive(Pro 23:7, Heb 9:19, John 3:20)

ii. We teach Faith toward God (Heb 11:1-6, Rom 1:17; 10:17, 2Cor 5:17).
There is a level of faith such as;

• Faith not found in Israel (Matt 8:10)
• Great Faith – (Matt 15:28)
• Little faith – (Matt 8:26, 15:31)
• Faithless generation – (Mark 9:19)

iii. We teach Baptism (Matt 28:19, John 3:5)

• Holy Spirit Baptism (1Cor 12:13, Eph 4:4-5, Act 1:5)
• Water Baptism (1 Pet 3:21, Matt 3:13-17, Rom 6:3-5)

iv. We teach Laying of Hands

• For Healing (Mark 6:5;16:17-18, Luke 4:40, Luke 13:13, Act 28:8)
• For Infilling of the Holy Spirit (2 Tim 1:6, Acts 19:6, Acts 8:17)
• For Anointing and Ordination to Work of Ministry (Acts 13:3, Deu 34:9, Acts 6:6, Numbers 8:10).
• For Impartation of Spiritual Gifts (1 Tim 4:14, 2 Tim 1:6)

v. We teach a resurrection from the dead ( 1Cor 6:14, Act 24:15, John 5:28-29, 1thess 4:13-16, 1 Cor 15:19)

vi. We teach Eternal Judgments (Heb 9:27, 2Cor 5:10)

• Christian Judgment for rewards (Rom 14:10, Cor 3:11-6)
• Non-Christian judgment for condemnation (Rev 20:11-15)
